CFIB Lists What It Wants From Next Week's Budget in Canada
Oct 28, 2025 5:14 AM

07:53 AM EDT, 10/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) on Tuesday called on the federal government to use the upcoming budget to keep its outstanding promises and restore small business confidence.

The Canadian federal government is slated to present its budget next Tuesday.

CFIB urges the government to confirm the tax-free status of the $2.5-billion carbon tax rebate issued last December and to return the remaining $623 million still owed to small firms.

CFIB is also asking to pass the promised increase to the Lifetime Capital Gains Exemption threshold, lower the small business tax rate, and to introduce a rebate program for small- and medium-sized firms impacted by United States tariffs.
