09:33 AM EDT, 06/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Chevron ( CVX ) unit Chevron USA said Tuesday it has acquired two leasehold acreage positions to enter the domestic lithium sector.

The first is from TerraVolta Resources and the second is from East Texas Natural Resources.

The estimated leasehold position has about 125,000 net acres and is in regions where the Smackover Formation is present, in Northeast Texas, and Southwest Arkansas, Chevron ( CVX ) said.

The formation has a "high lithium content" and is the company's first step toward setting up a domestic lithium business.
