Chevron Says It Secured Greenhouse Gas Assessment Permit Offshore Western Australia

09:52 AM EDT, 08/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Chevron ( CVX ) said Thursday it has secured a greenhouse gas assessment permit offshore Western Australia through its Chevron Australia New Ventures unit.

The G-18-AP permit area, covering 8,467 square kilometers near Onslow, will be assessed for third-party emissions storage, including that from Chevron ( CVX )-operated LNG assets, the company said.

The permit involves a joint venture with Woodside Energy, added Chevron ( CVX ), which holds a 70% participating stake in the permit.
