Chevron Unit Completes Texas Refinery Upgrade to Increase Crude Processing Capacity
Dec 10, 2024 7:58 AM

10:31 AM EST, 12/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Chevron's ( CVX ) Chevron USA unit said Tuesday that it has completed a retrofit of its Pasadena, Texas refinery, boosting its capacity to process lighter crudes by nearly 15% to 125,000 barrels per day.

Chevron ( CVX ) acquired the Pasadena Refinery in 2019 to strengthen its Gulf Coast refining system. The Light Tight Oil Project aims to improve the refinery's reliability and safety, ultimately increasing the supply of refined products in the US. The refinery will also start producing jet fuel and exporting gas oil, the company said.

The phased start-up of the asset is expected to continue through Q1 2025, as the project team ensures all plants are running as planned and products meet specifications, the company added.
