07:55 AM EDT, 06/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- China has accused the US of violating the trade deal the two countries signed in Geneva in May and rejected US President Donald Trump's claim that Beijing had breached the agreement, multiple media outlets reported, citing the Chinese commerce ministry.
Trump said Friday in a Truth Social post that Beijing had "TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH US."
"If the US insists on its own way and continues to damage China's interests, China will continue to take resolute and forceful measures to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests," Bloomberg quoted the Chinese ministry as saying in a statement.
The US has adopted a series of discriminatory and restrictive policies against China, while Beijing had actively upheld the agreement, NBC News reported, citing the Chinese ministry.
"The U.S. government has unilaterally and repeatedly provoked new economic and trade frictions, exacerbating uncertainty and instability in bilateral economic and trade relations," Reuters reported, citing the Chinese ministry.
The White House did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment, while the Chinese commerce ministry could not be immediately reached.
