Chinese Electric-Vehicle Makers Log Double-Digit Delivery Gains for June

09:31 AM EDT, 07/01/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Chinese electric-vehicle makers on Monday reported double-digit gains for their June deliveries, led by Nio (NIO), which topped its second-quarter target.

Nio delivered 21,209 vehicles last month, up 98% year over year, reflecting 11,581 electric sports utility vehicles and 9,628 sedans. The company delivered 57,373 vehicles in the three-months ended June 30, up 144% and exceeding its previous guidance range of 54,000 and 56,000 units.

The automaker's cumulative deliveries reached 537,020 vehicles at the end of June, it said in a statement. Nio's New York Stock Exchange-listed American depositary receipts rose 4.6% in premarket activity.

Li Auto ( LI ) delivered 47,774 vehicles in June, a 47% improvement on year-ago levels. The deliveries bolstered the company's second-quarter tally by about 26% to 108,581 units, in line with the estimate it provided in May. As of June 30, Li Auto's ( LI ) cumulative deliveries were 822,345 vehicles.

"In June, our sales momentum continued to increase, with monthly deliveries exceeding 40,000 vehicles in total and surpassing 20,000 vehicles for Li L6 alone," Chief Executive Xiang Li said in a statement. "As a company emphasizing on growth as its core driving force, we will focus on user value and continually iterate products and technologies."

Li Auto ( LI ) plans to launch its next-generation autonomous driving system to all of its Li AD Max users early this month and make it available for use nationwide, according to Xiang Li. The EV maker's Nasdaq-listed stock increased 3.4% in Monday premarket trading.

XPeng ( XPEV ) delivered 10,668 EV units in June, representing a 24% year-on-year growth. In total, the company distributed 30,207 vehicles in the second quarter, having delivered 10,146 and 9,393 units in May and April, respectively. The output was within the company's guidance range of 29,000 to 32,000 vehicles it provided in May.

The company said it distributed 1,687 of its X9 model, with cumulative deliveries reaching 13,143 units half a year since its launch. XPeng ( XPEV ) delivered 52,028 EVs overall in the first six months of 2024, up 26% from last year. The automaker's ADRs on the NYSE rose 1.5% before the bell.
