Analysts polled by FactSet expected $6.17.

Net premiums written by the insurer for the three months ended Sept. 30 were $14.87 billion, up from $13.83 billion a year earlier.

Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected total revenue of $12.98 billion.

Shares of Chubb ( CB ) rose almost 1.3% during after-hours trading.
