09:14 AM EDT, 04/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Cineplex ( CPXGF ) , a Canada entertainment and media company, on Tuesday reported box office revenues of $29.525 million for March 2025, about half of the $59.219 million reported in the year earlier period.

It had Q1 revenues of $101.911 million, down from $125.061 million a year earlier.

But Cineplex ( CPXGF ) noted the "tremendous success" of 'A Minecraft Movie' kicked off the second quarter with not only the biggest domestic debut of the year, but also the best in history for a video game adaptation. In the first week of April alone, Cineplex ( CPXGF ) said it has already achieved over half of the box office achieved in the full month of March 2025 and April 2024, respectively. "An astounding 67% of the opening weekend results on A Minecraft Movie came from premium experiences," it added.

Building on the strong industry response at CinemaCon, Cineplex ( CPXGF ) said the balance of Q2 offers a "robust" lineup of titles that it added will "drive audiences throughout the quarter".
