12:55 PM EDT, 03/14/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Citigroup ( C ) is reportedly looking into workplace harassment allegations against Edward Ruff, a managing director in the company's equity offerings group in New York, media outlets reported Thursday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
The bank is investigating at least two instances of Ruff's alleged abusive behavior against subordinates on the industrial, energy, and power team, Reuters reported. These incidents involve Ruff allegedly insulting and intimidating a junior banker and an analyst on separate occasions, the report added.
Ruff was suspended in January and has not yet returned to the office, Bloomberg reported.
"While we will not comment on individual internal matters, simply put, where warranted, we exit employees who fail to meet our high standards of respectful treatment in our workplace," a Citigroup ( C ) spokesperson told Bloomberg and Reuters.
Citi declined to comment to MT Newswires beyond the comments made to Reuters and Bloomberg .
