04:52 AM EDT, 10/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Citigroup ( C ) urged a US court to dismiss New York State Attorney General Letitia James' lawsuit contending the bank does not do enough to protect and reimburse customers victimized by scammers, media outlets reported Tuesday, citing company spokespeople.

The bank's lawyers argued to US District Judge Paul Oetken that it has procedures in place to protect customers from scams, Reuters reported.

"Citi closely follows all laws and regulations related to wire transfers and works extremely hard to prevent threats from affecting our clients and to assist them in recovering losses when possible," Reuters cited a company spokesperson as saying.

Citi did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
