Comcast, NBCUniversal to be Probed by FCC Over DEI Practices for Potential Violations
Feb 12, 2025 10:27 AM

01:01 PM EST, 02/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Comcast ( CMCSA ) and NBCUniversal may potentially be promoting "invidious" forms of diversity, equity and inclusion programs that are not in compliance with the Federal Communications Commission's regulations, Chairman Brendan Carr said in a letter Tuesday.

Carr said that he has asked the commission's enforcement bureau to start an investigation on Comcast ( CMCSA ) and NBCUniversal to ensure that the companies' practices do not violate FCC regulations or civil rights laws regarding discrimination.

Comcast ( CMCSA ) and NBCUniversal are the focus of this DEI investigation due to evidence of continued promotion and their presence across multiple FCC-regulated sectors, Carr added.

"We have received an inquiry from the FCC and will be cooperating with the FCC to answer their questions," a Comcast ( CMCSA ) spokesperson told MT Newswires in an email.

NBCUniversal did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
