08:24 AM EDT, 04/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Commercial Metals ( CMC ) was Smart Insider's stock pick of the week after the company's Chief Executive Officer Peter Matt bought $295,000 worth of stock at $48.30 apiece on March 27, boosting his holding by 5%.

The purchase was only his second "despite a reasonable tenure with the company," Smart Insider said in a note Tuesday.

The previous purchase, made in October 2023 and worth $250,000 at $40, "proved well-timed," according to the note.

"It's interesting to see him purchasing again 1 1/2 years later at a 20% higher price," Smart Insider said. "He has a short but good record as a buyer, including two timely purchases in Constellium (CSTM), where he served as [chief financial officer] from 2016 to 2023."

Smart Insider ranked the stock +1, or strong positive signal, on April 1.
