Markets: United States Treasuries extend gains into New York close, dip after US incoming President Donald Trump's remarks, while the US dollar rallies. E-minis fall, reversing in Asia. Asian equities are dragged down, Brent unchanged above $73/barrel.

Fed: Chicago Federal Reserve Bank Austan Goolsbee sees more cuts in store, pace will be determined by outlook. Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank President Neel Kashkari describes the December cut as reasonable but notes that neutral rate might be higher, with policy being less restrictive than anticipated.

US: Trump vows an additional 10% tariff on China and 25% on Mexico and Canada, needed to combat the flow of migrants and illegal drugs across US borders.

Middle East: Israel is expected to vote on a cease-fire deal with Hezbollah on Tuesday with passage being considered likely.

ECB: Governing Council (GC) member Joachim Nagel says the European Central Bank must not cut rates too quickly, says inflation goal will be met 'soon', but risks remain; sees rates still restrictive at the moment. GC member Philip Lane cautions open mind about the speed and scale of the next moves. GC member Gabriel Makhlouf sees cuts ahead but is open-minded on speed.

European Union proposes sanctions on several Chinese firms helping Russia to develop attack drones deployed against Ukraine; also considers further restrictions on Russian oil tankers.

Germany: Former Prime Minister Angela Merkel calls for easing of the debt brake.

UK: BRC shop prices fall 0.6% year over year in the United Kingdom, in line with expectations.
