07:10 AM EDT, 09/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The Communications Workers of America, or CWA, said Monday it has informed AT&T ( T ) and the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service that the union is withdrawing from the mediation process with AT&T ( T ), citing the telecom operator's "disingenuous use of the mediation process to stall negotiations."
More than 17,000 CWA-represented workers of AT&T's ( T ) wireline telecommunications network, including technicians, customer service representatives, and support staff have been on strike in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee since last month.
"Despite our sincere actions, negotiations have made little progress, which is much less than we want for both our employees and customers," AT&T ( T ) said Friday on its website.
A spokesperson for AT&T ( T ) told Reuters that the company is fully prepared with contingency plans to maintain uninterrupted service for its customers.
AT&T ( T ) did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
