“As of now the entire auto industry and especially we have some of the businesses which are largely depended on people because of the assembly line “manufacturing system. So since the beginning, I think we have been very clear in hiring the local residents because that is what gives you a lot of stability and even during the most pandemic resumption I think the opening was seamless. So while we will need to sort of work towards and assess what is the actual detailed impact is going to be but as of now we are not very concerned because of our policy of hiring.”

“We will be doing detailed work. We did some sort of initial work when the government communicated its intention to come up with the law. So we have been gradually working towards it. I am pretty confident we will be able to work towards achieving the requirement of having 75 percent local residents working within the state.”

On training, Bohra said, “We do have our inhouse training centres where we do see and provide the requisite skills required to perform the job. In each and every plant we have a skill centre and we also provide a lot of vocational training. We also have to appreciate the law. It at least provides a window where you can reach out to the government and ask for an exception from this 75 percent or wherever the skill set is not available locally.”

On exemption, Bohra further added, “There is a pre-approval mechanism so you have to approach the government and ask for an exemption.”
