08:54 AM EDT, 08/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- ConocoPhillips ( COP ) said Thursday it signed a 20-year sales and purchase agreement with Sempra's ( SRE ) Sempra Infrastructure unit to buy 4 million tons per year of liquefied natural gas from the latter's Port Arthur LNG phase 2 project under development in Jefferson County, Texas.
The company said the agreement will support its ability to deliver natural gas to customers in key markets around the world.
ConocoPhillips ( COP ) also said that in July 2022, it had signed a 20-year agreement for 5 million tons per year of LNG offtake and entered a deal to acquire a 30% equity stake in phase 1 of Port Arthur LNG, which is expected to start up in 2027.
The energy company said that although a final investment decision is pending for phase 2, its participation in that project will be offtake only.
