03:04 PM EDT, 07/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- ConocoPhillips ( COP ) has sued to block a US Department of the Interior rule that "created a presumption against any petroleum-related activities in 'Special Areas'" that comprise over half of the National Petroleum Reserve in northern Alaska, according to the company's complaint filed Friday in the US District Court for the District of Alaska.

The Interior Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
