03:14 PM EDT, 09/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Constellation Energy ( CEG ) said Tuesday that one year after restarting the Three Mile Island Unit 1 plant, now renamed the Crane Clean Energy Center, the project has progressed ahead of schedule.
The company said the restart, backed by a 20-year power deal with Microsoft ( MSFT ) , is set for 2027 and will add carbon-free baseload energy while restoring jobs and grid stability.
Constellation added it has hired 500 employees so far and completed major inspections, while Nuclear Regulatory Commission filings and state permits remain on schedule.
The company said the project could add up to 2,000 megawatts of clean capacity as part of broader plans to boost output across its nuclear fleet.
