06:44 AM EDT, 07/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Constellium SE ( CSTM ) said Monday that it has completed the casting of an aluminum slab using a 12-ton hydrogen combustion-powered furnace, the first industrial-scale use of its technology.

Senior Vice President Ludovic Piquier said the test marks a step in the company's goal of decarbonizing heavy industry by using hydrogen instead of natural gas.

The aluminum slab will be used for electric vehicles.
