12:27 PM EDT, 09/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- CoreWeave ( CRWV ) said Thursday that it expanded its collaboration with OpenAI, securing a new contract worth up to $6.5 billion to help the Microsoft ( MSFT )-backed (MSFT) artificial intelligence lab boost its computing power.
The AI cloud provider said the new deal brings the total value of its contract with the parent of generative AI chatbot ChatGPT to $22.4 billion.
This marks the second expansion of their collaboration since it was first announced in March, worth $11.9 billion at the time. CoreWeave ( CRWV ) disclosed an add-on deal worth $4 billion in May.
"This milestone affirms the trust that world-leading innovators have in CoreWeave's ( CRWV ) ability to power the most demanding inference and training workloads at an unmatched pace," CoreWeave ( CRWV ) Chief Executive Michael Intrator said in a statement.
Shares of CoreWeave ( CRWV ) were up 0.7% intraday Thursday.

The announcement follows CoreWeave's ( CRWV ) disclosure last week of its commitment to invest 1.5 billion British pounds ($2 billion) for the expansion of its UK data centers.
On Monday, Nvidia ( NVDA ) agreed to support OpenAI expand its computing power with an investment of up to $100 billion. The companies signed a letter of intent to deploy at least 10 gigawatts of Nvidia ( NVDA ) systems for OpenAI's next-generation AI infrastructure.
On Tuesday, OpenAI, Oracle (ORCL) and Japan's SoftBank announced five new AI data center sites in the US under OpenAI's Stargate AI infrastructure platform, which intends to invest $500 billion over the next four years.
