Corning Faces European Anti-Trust Probe Over 'Gorilla Glass' Supply Deals With Mobile Phone Manufacturers
Nov 9, 2024 11:20 AM

10:03 AM EST, 11/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Corning (GLW) is being investigated for potentially abusing its dominant position on the worldwide market for a special type of glass used mainly to protect screens of handheld electronics devices, the European Commission said late Tuesday.

A Corning spokesman told MT Newswires Wednesday the company is cooperating with the investigation.

The European Commission said the probe will determine whether Corning "distorted competition" through exclusive supply agreements with mobile phone companies and raw glass processors, alleging its deals with original equipment manufacturers for its "Gorilla Glass" break-resistant covers may have "excluded rival glass producers from large segments of the market."
