07:25 AM EDT, 08/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Cornish Metals ( SBWFF ) said Monday that it appointed Don Turvey as CEO and director, effective Sept. 1.
The company's share price jumped 11% at last look to 6.34 pounds on the London Stock Exchange following the news.
Turvey has more than 40 years of experience in the mining, including senior management roles in production, project execution, business development, and minerals resource management, according to Cornish Metals ( SBWFF ).
He spent over 20 years at BHP Billiton, in roles including general manager and vice president for project development.
"I look forward to joining Cornish Metals' ( SBWFF ) management and working directly with the project team to develop South Crofty to production and to realise the corporate vision to bring responsible tin mining back to Cornwall," Turvey said.
Turvey will replace Ken Armstrong, who stepped in as interim CEO. Following Turvey's appointment, Patrick Anderson will return to the position of nonexecutive chair while Armstrong will return as nonexecutive director.
Cornish Metals ( SBWFF ) is focused on advancing the South Crofty tin project in Cornwall, U.K.
