Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) said in a Wednesday blog post that its DeepMind division is launching a new artificial intelligence research lab in Singapore.

The new research lab will focus on collaboration with government, businesses, civil society and academic institutions across the Asia Pacific region.

The company said the initiative comes after more than doubling Google DeepMind's team in the APAC region over the past year.
