03:01 PM EST, 01/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- (In an earlier story it was stated that TELUS Digital ( TIXT ) does not provide content moderation for Meta. It should have said the company does not provide fact checking for Meta in the U.S. A corrected version of the story, with an updated share price, now follows.)
TELUS Digital Experience (TIXT.TO) whose shares have declined over 20% since Monday, traded higher after the company issued a statement Friday stating that it does not provide third-party fact-checking services to Meta (META) in the United States.
Telus Digital ( TIXT ), which did not name Meta in the statement, said it provides a broad spectrum of content moderation services for a number of clients, primarily in Europe, for Europe-based content where specific laws govern moderation.
"TELUS Digital ( TIXT ) is aware of the media coverage widely circulating following the announcement, on January 7, 2025, by a leading social media company modifying its third-party fact-checking practice in the U.S. and the discussion it has generated related to content moderation priorities and practices. TELUS Digital ( TIXT ) does not provide third-party fact-checking services in the U.S. to the company that made this announcement," the company said.
The company's shares were last seen up $0.065 to $4.665 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
