CoStar Group Disputes D. E. Shaw's Claims of Reduced Transparency in Segment Reporting Changes
Mar 11, 2026 6:16 AM

08:55 AM EDT, 03/11/2026 (MT Newswires) -- CoStar Group ( CSGP ) said Wednesday the recent changes in its reporting segments offer more transparency into its business, disputing allegations by shareholder D. E. Shaw that the changes reduced transparency.

"CoStar Group ( CSGP ) changed our reporting segments from geography-based to product portfolio-based to align with how we run our business," the company said.

The company stated that, based on public filings, D. E. Shaw owned only 0.22% of CoStar's ( CSGP ) common stock, compared with its ownership of almost 4X that of the company's competitors.

"CoStar Group ( CSGP ) stockholders should ask if D. E. Shaw's real agenda is to unlock value through its investment in CoStar Group ( CSGP ) or in our competitors at the expense of CoStar Group ( CSGP ) stockholders," the company said.

D. E. Shaw did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
