CPI Card Teams Up With Karta on Prepaid Card Security

03:32 PM EDT, 10/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- CPI Card Group ( PMTS ) announced Wednesday that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Australia-based Karta and has taken an undisclosed minority equity stake in the company.

As part of the collaboration, CPI will integrate Karta's patent-pending SafeToBuy technology into its US prepaid card offerings.

CPI will manufacture and personalize contactless gift cards embedded with Europay, Mastercard, and Visa chips that carry Karta's SafeToBuy applet.

CPI shares fell 3.8% in recent Wednesday trading.
