06:02 PM EST, 11/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Critical Metals (CRML) said late Tuesday that its subsidiary ECM Lithium AT GmbH has received a decision from Austria's Federal Administrative Court regarding the environmental review requirements for its Koralpe lithium project.
The court overturned an earlier ruling by the Carinthian state government that had determined the project did not require an environmental impact assessment.
While the court agreed that the project falls below the Austrian EIA Act's 10-hectare threshold, it found that this standard may be inconsistent with European Union law, according to the company.
Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Tony Sage called the ruling "surprising" but said it does not affect the company's planned start date for mining at Wolfsberg, adding that management remains confident its environmental approval will be reinstated.
