CrowdStrike Holdings Chief Executive George Kurtz Apologizes for Global IT Outage

10:30 AM EDT, 07/19/2024 (MT Newswires) -- CrowdStrike Holdings ( CRWD ) Chief Executive Officer George Kurtz apologized for the global IT disruption early Friday caused by an update that CrowdStrike ( CRWD ) sent for Microsoft (MSFT) operating systems.

"The system was sent an update and that update had a software bug in it and caused an issue with the Microsoft operating system," Kurtz said during an interview at NBC News' Today program.

"We identified this very quickly and remediated the issue," said Kurtz, adding that the company is working with customers to ensure their systems return online.

Shares of CrowdStrike Holdings ( CRWD ) were down nearly 9% in recent trading.
