CrowdStrike Holdings Reportedly Denies Delta Air's Allegations on Flight Disruptions
Aug 5, 2024 2:23 AM

04:52 AM EDT, 08/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- CrowdStrike Holdings ( CRWD ) rejected a claim by Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) that it should be blamed for flight disruptions after the July 19 global outage due to a faulty update, news outlets reported Sunday, citing a letter from an external lawyer.

In the letter, CrowdStrike ( CRWD ) said it is "highly disappointed by Delta's suggestion that CrowdStrike ( CRWD ) acted inappropriately and strongly rejects any allegation that it was grossly negligent or committed misconduct," Reuters reported.

This comes after Delta Chief Executive Ed Bastian said the incident had cost the airline $500 million and that it plans to take legal action to get compensation from the cybersecurity firm.

The CrowdStrike ( CRWD ) letter also noted that "any liability by CrowdStrike ( CRWD ) is contractually capped at an amount in the single-digit millions," according to the report.

Delta canceled over 6,000 flights in six days and faces an investigation into why it took much longer to recover from the outage than other airlines, the news outlets said.

CrowdStrike ( CRWD ) further said in the letter that it reached out to Delta to offer help within hours of the outage but received no response. The company said it would respond aggressively to any litigation, The Wall Street Journal reported.

CrowdStrike ( CRWD ) and Delta did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment on the matter.
