04:11 AM EDT, 08/13/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Cullinan Therapeutics ( CGEM ) , Taiho Oncology and Taiho Pharmaceutical said Thursday that a phase 3 clinical trial evaluating the combination of their jointly developed drug zipalertinib and chemotherapy as a first-line treatment for adults with previously untreated, locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer met its primary endpoint of progression-free survival.
The specific indication is for those patients harboring epidermal growth factor receptor exon 20 insertion mutations.
The study compared the drug combination with chemotherapy alone. According to the company, safety of the zipalertinib arm of the study was "manageable."
Based on the results, the companies plan to pursue US regulatory approval for the combination, they said.
