03:05 PM EDT, 07/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Cummins (CMI) said Thursday it was awarded a $75 million grant from the US Department of Energy to convert about 360,000 square feet of its facility at its Columbus (Indiana) Engine Plant for zero-emissions components and electric powertrain systems.
The company said it will match the grant and invest $75 million to convert the space and expand production of battery packs, powertrain systems and other battery-electric vehicle components for Accelera by Cummins, its zero-emissions business segment.
Shares of Cummins were up nearly 2% in recent trading.
