March 15 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers,
acquisitions and disposals were reported by 0930 GMT on Friday:
** U.S. Steel Corp, which has agreed to be bought by
Japan's Nippon Steel ( NISTF ) for $14.9 billion, must remain a
domestically owned American firm, President Joe Biden said on
Thursday - expressing explicit opposition to the deal for the
first time.
** Swisscom said it will buy Vodafone Italia for 8
billion euros ($8.70 billion) and merge the business with its
Italian subsidiary Fastweb.
** Polish refiner Orlen said it signed an agreement to sell
Gas Storage Poland, the country's gas storage operator, to the
state run gas-pipeline operator Gaz-System.
** British competition regulator said it is looking into
homebuilder Barratt's 2.52-billion-pound ($3.21
billion) all-stock deal to buy smaller rival Redrow ( RDWWF ).
** Euro zone's largest bank BNP Paribas is
considering a potential acquisition of Chinese conglomerate
Fosun International's ( FOSUF ) stake in Belgian insurer Ageas
, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday, citing people
with knowledge of the matter.
