July 5 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers,
acquisitions and disposals were reported by 0930 GMT on Friday:
** BBVA's Chair Carlos Torres told its
shareholders that he was fully confident of the success of its
12-billion-euro takeover for smaller rival Sabadell.
** The Canadian government has approved Glencore's ( GLCNF )
$6.93 billion acquisition of miner Teck Resources' ( TECK )
steelmaking coal unit with strict conditions to preserve jobs,
the country's industry minister said on Thursday.
** Saks Fifth Avenue parent HBC will acquire
department-store chain Neiman Marcus in a $2.65-billion deal,
the companies said on Thursday, giving them stronger negotiating
power with vendors and greater ability to control costs.
** Private equity firm EQT and investor Klaus-Michael Kuehne
struck a deal to jointly acquire a 35% stake in bus and train
services company Flix to fund its expansion, EQT said in a
statement on Thursday.
** Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) is in the
preliminary stages of exploring a possible bid for Australian
gas supplier Santos, two people with knowledge of the
plans said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
** Barclays ( JJCTF ) is selling its German consumer finance
business to Austrian bank BAWAG Group AG for a small
premium to net assets, it said on Thursday, as the British
lender aims to simplify its business.
** HSBC ( HSBC ) is attracting initial interest from peers
including BNP Paribas SA and UBS Group AG,
for the sale of its German wealth management unit, Bloomberg
News reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the
matter.
