02:15 PM EDT, 07/02/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Deere (DE) said Tuesday it is laying off about 590 factory employees in Illinois and Iowa, effective Aug. 30, due to reduced demand for the products manufactured at these facilities.
"These changes are being made due to reduced demand for the products produced at these facilities," Deere said in a statement emailed to MT Newswires. "To better position Deere to meet future demand, we continue to take proactive steps to reduce production and inventory."
To be laid off are 280 production employees at John Deere Harvester Works factory in East Moline, Illinois, about 210 at John Deere Davenport Works in Davenport, Iowa, and about 100 at John Deere Dubuque Works in Iowa, the company said.
