03:40 PM EST, 12/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- A passenger was able to board a Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) flight to Honolulu, Hawaii, earlier this week without a ticket, but was identified while the airplane was still on the ground and captured at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, according to multiple media reports on Friday.
Delta Flight 487 on Tuesday was delayed slightly more than two hours after Airbus 321neo returned to the gate and was swept for any prohibited materials. The passenger allegedly was able to exit the airplane before authorities arrived, but was tracked by video inside the airport and found hiding in a rest room, Port of Seattle police told CNN.
"Delta people followed procedures to have an unticketed passenger removed from the flight and then apprehended," the airline said in a statement on Friday to MT Newswires.
The passenger was booked in a Des Moines, Washington, jail, USA Today reported, citing the police.
The incident is the second in less than a month involving a Delta flight. According to reports, a woman was able to board a Delta flight on Nov. 26 at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York after entering the facility through a special lane for airline employees. She was arrested when the flight landed in Paris.
