Delta Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over Refunds After Major Computer Outage
Aug 8, 2024 4:07 AM

06:51 AM EDT, 08/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) is facing a proposed class action lawsuit from passengers who claim the airline refused to offer full refunds after flights were delayed or canceled on July 19 due to a major computer outage, several media outlets reported on Wednesday.

The proposed class action lawsuit was made public on Wednesday in federal court in Atlanta, these reports said.

The outage, which affected various sectors, led to disruptions for Delta customers, who allege a breach of contract for not providing automatic refunds and offering partial refunds only with waivers.

The lawsuits alleged that "these unfair, unlawful, and unconscionable practices resulted in Delta unjustly enriching itself at the expense of its customers".

It added that passengers seek compensation for additional costs, such as rebooking with other airlines, hotels, food, and lost luggage.

Delta Air Lines ( DAL ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
