02:47 PM EDT, 09/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Two Democrat senators wrote to the General Services Administration earlier this week asking for a list of agencies impacted by CrowdStrike's ( CRWD ) faulty update to its security software which crashed Windows-powered computers, Axios reported Friday.
Democratic senators Brian Schatz and Peter Welch wrote to the agency asking for insight into the July incident and of any other possible similar vulnerabilities across the federal government's information technology systems, according to the copy of the letter viewed by MT Newswires.
"[T]here are risks to relying on too few contractors to operate such a large share of the federal government's IT systems," the lawmakers wrote in the letter to GSA Administrator Robin Carnahan.
The lawmakers asked for information on a number of questions, including the steps the GSA has taken to engage with CrowdStrike ( CRWD ) since the outage and the measures that were taken to enhance network resilience, by Sept. 30.
