Dr. Philipson is considered an expert in U.S. economic policy, particularly health care policy, appears often on major media outlets and currently serves as Managing Partner of the venture-capital firm MEDA Ventures, along with serving on several corporate boards.

His government service includes a full-time position as vice chair and acting chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers 2017-20.
