Analysts polled by FactSet expected $2.96.

Revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 was $3.92 billion, up from $2.65 billion a year earlier.

Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $3.53 billion.

The company set a base cash dividend of $1 per share, payable on Nov. 20 to shareholders of record on Nov. 13.

Shares of Diamondback Energy ( FANG ) were down 1.3% in after-hours activity.
