12:29 PM EST, 01/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Diana Shipping ( DSX ) on Tuesday said that it had extended its time charter contract with Hong Kong-based Solebay Shipping Cape.
The contract is for one of the company's Capesize dry bulk vessels, the Semirio, for a gross charter rate of $16,650 per day minus a 5% commission paid to third parties.
The new charter contract will come into effect on Feb. 4 and will last till at least Feb. 15, 2026, with a potential for extension until April 15, 2026, the company said.
The Semirio is currently chartered at a gross rate of $14,150 per day, according to Diana Shipping ( DSX ).
The company also extended its time charter contract with Western Bulk Carriers for one of its Ultramax dry bulk vessels, the DSI Aquila, for a gross charter rate of $12,250 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties.
The new contract comes into effect on Jan. 23 and will last for a minimum of five months and a maximum of seven months, according to Diana Shipping ( DSX ).
The DSI Aquila is currently chartered at a gross rate of $12,500 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, the company said.
The employment extensions of both ships are expected to generate about $7.5 million in gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charters, according to Diana Shipping ( DSX ).
