09:55 AM EDT, 03/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Walt Disney ( DIS ) activist investor Nelson Peltz has obtained support from a group of business leaders who say he could improve the performance of the media giant should he get elected as a director in April.
In a letter co-signed by current and former directors of companies such as Procter & Gamble (PG) and Mondelez International ( MDLZ ) , the group said Peltz has demonstrated that he can push for positive change.
"Some of us, like you, were skeptical about Nelson and were initially opposed to the notion of having him on our boards," the directors said in the letter. "However, after having worked with Nelson, we know that our concerns were misplaced."
Peltz's firm, Trian Fund Management, has said it wants changes to management and strategy at Disney ( DIS ) to improve its performance.
Disney ( DIS ) and Trian did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
