06:18 AM EDT, 05/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Walt Disney ( DIS ) has filed a lawsuit against Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) YouTube ( GOOG ) to stop the appointment of a long-time Disney ( DIS ) executive, alleging breach of contract, among other things, media outlets reported, citing a court filing.
YouTube ( GOOG ) recently announced the appointment of Justin Connolly as global head of media and sports, according to the reports.
In a lawsuit filed in a Los Angeles state court, Disney ( DIS ) said YouTube ( GOOG ) has been aware of Connolly's employment agreement, which required him to work for the media and entertainment giant through at least March 1, 2027, Reuters reported. Connolly signed a new three-year contract last November, giving him a one-time right to terminate it until March 2027, according to the report.
Google ( GOOG ) and Disney ( DIS ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
