05:23 AM EDT, 09/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Walt Disney ( DIS ) said late Monday it has decided to resume the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" show, effective Tuesday.
The parent company of the ABC television network suspended the show last week following the remarks host Kimmel made regarding the recent killing of Charlie Kirk.
"We made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country," Disney ( DIS ) said in a statement. "It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive."
The company said it has spent recent days having "thoughtful conversations" Kimmel that led to the return of the show.
Separately, Sinclair (SBGI) said it will be preempting the show across its ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming, effective late Tuesday.
"Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show's potential return," Sinclair said.
