Dollar Tree Unable to Establish Federal Jurisdiction in California Wage Lawsuit
Oct 22, 2024 12:35 PM

12:41 PM EDT, 10/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Dollar Tree ( DLTR ) was unable to establish federal jurisdiction under a class-action lawsuit that alleges the company violated California labor laws, according to a court document.

Judge Kenly K. Kato of the US District Court for the Central District of California wrote Monday that the company failed to sufficiently support its claim for federal jurisdiction, paving the way for the lawsuit to proceed in the California Superior Court.

In June, a group of former Dollar Tree workers sued the company in the state of California for allegedly violating several wage and hour standards, including by failing to pay minimum and overtime wages, offering meal and rest breaks, and timely paying wages upon termination.

Dollar Tree ( DLTR ) had filed a motion to move the case to a federal court.

Bloomberg earlier reported the news.

Dollar Tree ( DLTR ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.

Price: 65.23, Change: -2.08, Percent Change: -3.09
