02:44 PM EDT, 07/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Dominion Energy ( D ) said Wednesday it seeking proposals from nuclear technology companies to deploy small modular reactors at the North Anna power plant in Louisa County, Virginia.

The request for proposals will evaluate the technology and but not necessarily commit to installing SMRs, which are cheaper than the traditional nuclear technology, at the power station.

Dominion also said it will seek regulatory approval this fall for a rider to recoup costs related to SMR development.
