01:46 PM EDT, 04/01/2024 (MT Newswires) -- DoorDash ( DASH ) will offer same-day delivery of home improvement products under a partnership with Lowe's (LOW), under which the companies expect to reach new Do-It-Yourself customers.
The partnership marks DoorDash's ( DASH ) entry into the home improvement category. Lowe's products will be available for purchase in the DoorDash ( DASH ) app, the latter company said Monday. No financial terms of the partnership were disclosed.
"Our partnership enables consumers with quick access to must-have tools and last-minute materials to complete projects of all sizes," Fuad Hannon, vice president of new verticals at DoorDash ( DASH ), said in a statement. Delivery will be available from more than 1,700 Lowe's stores in the US.
Lowe's in February predicted macro uncertainty would weigh on its outlook for the year as the Do-It-Yourself business continued to slow.
"As Lowe's continues its omnichannel journey, expanding same-day delivery options helps us meet our customers where they are," Neelima Sharma, Lowe's senior vice president of digital commerce and technology, said in Monday's statement. "Our collaboration with DoorDash ( DASH ) unlocks an opportunity for us to reach new DIY customers who are shopping directly on the DoorDash ( DASH ) app," she said.
Lowe's share price was down 2% in afternoon trade, trimming its year-to-date gain to around 12%. DoorDash ( DASH ) shares have gained 40% so far in 2024.
DoorDash ( DASH ) in February reported a bigger-than-expected fourth-quarter loss even as its top line benefited from advertising revenue and growing customers using its food delivery platform.
"We expect to continue investing aggressively in several areas of our business in 2024, particularly in our new verticals and international markets," Chief Executive Tony Xu and Chief Financial Officer Ravi Inukonda said in a shareholder letter at the time.
