WASHINGTON, Oct 1 (Reuters) - U.S. Transportation
Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Tuesday called on ocean carriers to
withdraw surcharges after workers on Tuesday struck at East
Coats and Gulf Coast ports.
"No one should exploit a disruption for profit, especially
at a time when whole regions of the country are recovering from
Hurricane Helene," Buttigieg said. "We are closely monitoring
potential supply chain impacts and assessing ways to address
potential impacts, if necessary."
