11:30 AM EDT, 05/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Dow (DOW) said Thursday it has opened an expanded propylene glycol manufacturing plant in Thailand, increasing its capacity by nearly 50% to around 250,000 tons per year.
With the added capacity, Dow said the refurbished production facility in Map Ta Phut is the largest of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region.
Separately, the chemicals company said it has completed mechanical work on its new Voratron adhesive and gap filler production line at its polyurethanes systems facility in Ahlen, Germany.
The 10-fold increase in production capacity at the Ahlen factory is expected to help Dow meet rising demand for high-strength adhesives and thermally conductive composites used to build batteries for electric vehicles. The facility also is fully powered using renewable energy, supporting Dow's efforts to reduce carbon emissions, it said.
Dow shares recently were little changed in midday trading.
