(Reuters) - Shares in DS Smith ( DITHF ) opened 7.7% higher on Wednesday after the company said it is in talks with International Paper ( IP ) over an all-stock offer from its U.S.-listed rival.
The offer values the British paper and packaging firm at $7.2 billion.
