10:28 AM EDT, 06/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Duke Energy ( DUK ) said Monday that it plans to submit a construction application to the Public Service Commission of South Carolina for a new natural gas power plant in Anderson County later this year.

If the application is approved, the company said it targets to start construction in summer 2027 and begin operations by early 2031. The planned facility will use existing transmission infrastructure and have a capacity of about 1,400 megawatts of electricity, Duke Energy ( DUK ) said.
